Stuffit’s First Business Trip to Washington DC

I got to make my first Business Trip and it was to Washington DC with Mom.She works with bunches of people at a big credit union and they had a meeting about growth and the IT department. Very BIG deal!

0_sm I knew I was going to get to go when she set me up on the bed to help her pack. If I get in on the packing it is a sure deal!

1_sm I seem to ride around in bags a lot when I’m with Mom. It gets me there but I don’t get to see much. Dad always has a backpack or camera bag and he zips me in with my head sticking out so I can see and make faces at people. Anyway… me in the bag on the suitcase. We are off to the airport. The plan is a quick flight to SFO then jump the red eye to DC.

2_smWell this is NOT a good way to start things off. They said our flight was 3 hours late. That means a missed connection on the Frisco flight. Then things got worse because they CANCELED the flight all together. By now mom was a very unhappy camper and I was a very quiet little dog. She was talking to other passengers and people all dressed up in United Airline uniforms. They said no way were getting out until late the next afternoon at the soonest. She got them to rebook our flight to one out of Portland. Mom and another woman that was stuck rented a car and a way we went to catch an early Portland flight

Why is it they can’t make pillows for little dogs??? We only got 4 hours in the motel as it was. We had to be at the airport for a 6:00 am flight. I slept most of the flight and this one was on time. We got checked in to the motel there but Mom had lost half a days work and missed some meetings.

She was in no mood to be messed with when she said I was staying in the room that day. She left me food and water, the remote for the TV and the HBO guide and the paper to read and for other little dog uses.

5_smThe next day was a big all day meeting with all kinds of people. Some even thought they were important. You could tell by how confused they looked. Mom said could go but I had to be real quiet and could not be spouting off any of the things I had heard Dad say about ideas and stuff. I tried to take notes but had to give the pencil back to mom before I got so bored I jammed it in my ear.

6_smAfter the all day meeting we went to dinner. The food was pretty darn good but we were both real tired. Trips like that are very busy days I found out!

The next day was the same thing with meetings all day. Dad started texting Mom about not liking the weather for us flying out on Friday. He can get pretty persistent on things like this and Mom thinks he is a pain in the ass over it sometimes. Don’t tell her I said so but he us right a lot of the time. Anyway, she saw in the news what Dad was saying and there was a real big blizzard coming and that she better try to re-book our flight going home for Thursday with the storm hitting on Friday. She got on the phone and spent almost TWO hours on hold! We got a seat for Thursday!! And it has a Denver connection not a Frisco. We might actually make it!

7_smWe made the connection in Denver just fine even if we were a little late out of Washington. The great thing was the flight wasn’t full and I had my own seat!! They do need to work on the seat belt issue for my skinny ass. I don’t think they would do me much good. Everybody kept a close eye on my sitting there like a big dog in my own seat. I don’t know why some were laughing so hard.

There was a little bit of Jack left in the bottle the flight attendant left so I sniffed that and got a few drops out of it. It doesn’t take much to konk out a dog that only weighs 2 ounces. I slept all the way home.

That is enough of this business flying for a while. Too much like work. The next flight is down to VEGAS for the drag races the beginning of April with Dad and his friend Mike. Maybe I will look up Lola! She may be kind of strange looking but she has some real talents. 😉
